Metropolitan Family Services

Metropolitan Family Services (MFS) offers support to economically challenged families so they may improve the quality of their work, lifestyle and finances. In addition to education, support is offered in the areas of economic stability, emotional wellness, and legal aid.

In the area of economic stability, MSF focuses on helping families prepare for, find and sustain stable jobs and housing. MFS offers an array of programs across industries and population groups. Its largest capacity is for general job readiness/soft skills training for individuals who range from already skilled/retraining to those seeking their first job.

Several hard skill trainings are also offered. Credentials provided through the WIOA youth employment program includes, but is not limited to, the top 40 occupations as identified by the U.S. Department of Labor funded through Individual Training Accounts (ITAs). Credentials provided through the YouthBuild Chicago youth employment and training program includes NCCER and OSHA 30 certifications for entry into the construction industry.

Hiring occurs through targeted placements and mass hiring events that are typically on site. Typically, the average duration for MFS’ programs are between 6 months and 3 years.
