Youth Guidance

Youth Guidance creates and implements school-based programs that enable at-risk children to overcome obstacles, focus on their education and, ultimately, succeed in school and in life.  Their main focus areas include: counseling and prevention; community and afterschool; and youth workforce development.

Within youth workforce development, Youth Guidance offers two programs, one serving high school students in a school setting and the other focused on high school graduates. The high school program combines soft skills training with seasonal internships and permanent job placement in addition to postsecondary planning and transition supports.  Most of these clients receive soft-skills training in small groups and are paired with Youth Guidance staff members who provide further individualized coaching throughout the job placement process. Out of school clients participate in an intensive two-week soft skills training, followed by similar individualized instruction and assistance. Hiring occurs primarily through job-matching. Many clients are graduates of Youth Guidance’s mentorship and social/emotional support programs.
