Chicago CRED

Chicago CRED (Creating Real Economic Destiny) targets men identified as being at the highest risk of being shooters or being shot. Participants are placed in cohorts of approximately 30 men. Over a several-month period, typically six to nine, they receive soft and hard skills training, supervised transitional job experiences, intensive life coaching, and a menu of other support services including cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma counseling, tutoring to attain a GED or high school diploma, substance abuse counseling, legal counseling and help securing stable housing. They must have a high quality of work and strong attendance for sixty consecutive days before they ‘graduate’ and are eligible for job placement. Hiring occurs primarily through job-matching with employer partners.
