American Jobs Centers

The American Job Centers (AJCs), operated and funded by the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership (CCWP), is a network of organizations providing a variety of different programming at locations across the region.

Basic services that all AJC’s provide include self-directed or classroom style training in career readiness, labor market analysis, computer literacy, resume development, adult education, and academic instruction.  AJC’s also provide individualized career services, which includes coaching and supportive services to address any barriers to employment or career development that job seekers may have.

Although hard skills training is not provided at AJCs, job seekers receive access to individual training accounts (ITAs) ranging from $3,000-$8,000 to pay for hard skills training. Job seekers can access a network of accredited training providers who have been certified by ISBE or ICCB as qualified to train and issue industry-recognized credentials.  AJCs can also provide wage subsidies to employers who wish to hire and train workers at their worksite through on-the-job training.
